• Food Quality Issues: If food is found substandard, a penalty of up to ₹5 lakh may be imposed.

• Unhygienic Manufacturing/Processing: If food is prepared under unhygienic conditions, penalties can go up to ₹1 lakh.
• Failure to Comply with FSSAI Regulations: Non-compliance with FSSAI guidelines can attract a penalty of ₹2 lakh.
• Sale of Unsafe Food: If unsafe food is sold and causes harm, penalties vary:
  • Injury – ₹5 lakh
  • Grievous harm – ₹10 lakh
  • Death – Life imprisonment & ₹10 lakh fine
• Operating Without a License: Engaging in food business without an FSSAI license can result in a fine of up to ₹5 lakh and imprisonment.
